Ping is live

2026-07-17

Have an opponent who just tagged a spot you can't find? Open the backpack and fire Ping.

For 25 energy, Ping grabs a one-time snapshot of every opposing player's last recorded position and drops it on your radar as anonymous contacts. Nobody else is told you looked — no names, no colours, no live tracking. Just a rough "they were here" blip.

How it plays

Fire Ping and the radar window opens up. A phosphor-green sonar arm sweeps the panel three times (~15 seconds). Contacts light up as the arm finds them, bloom once, then fade until the next pass. After the third revolution the sweep is gone and you're back to normal radar.

The blips sit above fog-of-war when that's on — they don't punch holes in the mist, they just sit on top of it. Close the radar early and the effect is discarded; a refresh loses it too. Fifteen seconds of intel is meant to feel expensive, not like a permanent tracker.

Why this shape

Ping is the third power-up after Rangefinder and Heading, and it's the first one aimed at other players rather than the target. The useful moment is competitive: someone just submitted from a corner you can't crack, and you need a nudge toward their side of the map without turning the session into always-on stalking.

What's next

More abilities are still on the board.
